Amakhosi Miss Out on Pitso Mosimane
Kaizer Chiefs wasted an opportunity to recruit Pitso Mosimane as their new coach.
That’s according to former Amakhosi defender, Mokete Tsotetsi, who expressed his views after Mosimane confirmed earlier this week that he would be managing straggling Saudi Arabian outfit, Abha FC.
“I think Chiefs had a chance to grab him while he was still available,” Tsotetsi commented in an interview with a local soccer publication on Thursday, 1 February. “Maybe they did have a talk with him and did not agree on certain things, because Pitso has his own technical team that he travels with.
“If Chiefs bring him in, then he would need to come in with his own technical team and change the whole technical team.”
That, Tsotetsi remarked, would “disturb” Amakhosi’s finances: “They need to be with the
technical team they have currently … I don’t think it would be a wise move for Chiefs to fetch him [from Saudi Arabia] because it will be more expensive.”
Mosimane’s deal with Abha is on a short-term basis, so there is a possibility that Chiefs – currently managed by interim coach Cavin Johnson – could try their luck with him again next season.
